Different world =)

Stress reliever. That is how she describes travelling. Reina Ishikawa is a 19 years old half Filipina half Japanese, a 3rd year student taking up Hotel and Restaurant Management from San Beda College of Recoletos. She was born in Japan, she also stayed and studied there before. She traveled in Japan many times. But staying here in the Philippines makes her happy and complete.

When I said that I will ask her some questions about the most meaningful and beautiful place for her, I saw the excitement on her face and I’m surprised when she said that here in the Philippines is her most memorable place.

I asked her a few questions about her travels and experience and both of us were excited doing this =)

What is the most beautiful place for you and why?

You know what, I’ve been in many places not only in Japan but here in the Philippines. But the most beautiful and the one that catch my emotion were in Palawan. Going there was incredible, it was peaceful and for me I saw a different world. I am a typical teenager and a student but that time I feel that I am a different person. Specifically I went to Puerto Prinsesa for a tour in HRM Department.
What about the place?

It was the best. Palawan Underground River was the best! Stress reliever, you will forget all the problems that you have, no words can express the place because it was amazing. I appreciate everything there, that time I said that it is so wonderful how our world was created.

You will see there the different stalactite, it was unique, and there were Mama Mary figures, Jesus, mushrooms, the three kings and many for me to mention the different figures inside the underground river. Inside it was cold and fresh, we are all in the serious mode that time. It was funny because there were a lot of poops of bat =). It was dark inside, we only have flashlight and we’ve there for 40 minutes.

What about your travel? How was it?

It’s only one to two hours from Manila, it was fun to be with my friends and classmates, it was memorable.

Give some tips for those people who want to go for a travel

Just enjoy it, live your problem in your house, do whatever you want, appreciate the place because maybe that will be your last chance to be there. If you’re just alone, it will be your chance to look for yourself because nobody knows you. Enjoy it =)

A lot of thing you will learn in traveling, you will be aware in the world that you have and you will know different worlds aside from yours. It is important that you give yourself a break because each and of us deserves it. =)

The Passionate Cook.

“Passion. Just Passion.” This were the words that marked my mind when I interviewed the genius behind, Ely’s creation, (Click link to see Ely’s Creation: http://olwriting.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-master-baked-pastries.html ) of course, the creator itself, Mr. Eleazar “Ely” Garcia. He’s 54 years of age. Widowed with one gorgeous daughter *cough* A masseur from San Pedro, Laguna. I asked him some questions, short but meaningful ones ;)

How did you learn to cook? When did you start cooking?

*Trial and error, cook only what is readily available ingredients. Just be creative. Experiment!
*In grade school, which is a very very very very very very long time from now, oatmeal is my favorite, when everybody is busy, nobody cooks for me, actually nobody cares for me! Nobody notices me! *kidding* I need to do it by myself. So I learned to cook at a very young age. That time, I called myself, independiente! Self-proclaimed. *smiles*

Inspiration in cooking?

*My mother, Andrea Ortiz-Garcia. Hands down to her “kare-kare”. *sigh* makes right now, just even thinking of it makes me starved. Oh Dog, I misses my mom. *laugh*

Favorite food to eat?

*Mmmmmm. Burger, my own style J main dish, beef mechado, dessert, fruit salad.

Favorite food to cook?

*Nothing in particular, go for whatever is available in your fridge ;)

Recipes.

*The amazing, Japanese dumpling. A round of applause for myself ;D

Tips.

*Cook in larger quantity, specially grill or fried meat, you can keep this for another variant of dish or for sandwiches. Saves you a lot of time.
*Don’t follow recipes religiously, experiment I say!

Secrets behind your amazing dishes?

*Passion. Just Passion.

He is really my idol. Not just because his my father, just because he’s so damn cool J I love you papa!

PROVEN to be delicious! :D

PROVEN ON STICK

PROVEN

It is a part of my daily life to eat street foods and “isaw” (pig’s intestines) is my personal favorite, even though to others, it seems odd or gross to eat the intestines of a pig or even chicken’s, that is why it is considered as an exotic food. You have to have the guts to eat it. ;)

I remember my friends rolling their eyes every time I buy isaw, well I say to myself, “sorry to pop your bubble but half of your life is wasted because you haven’t tried one.

Right after the mass, I saw some food carts around the church, and there’s this one food that caught my nose off guard, yes, my nose. It smells incredibly amazing that makes my stomach growl. I checked it out and buy some. I ask the vendor how much it cost, and my jaw drop with amazement because it is only 2 pesos each J wow! It’s really affordable and at the same time very delicious! :D I ask him what its called, and he answered back, “proven po J”, “aaaaah, ano po ingredients niyan?” I replied, he said to me “harina po, tapos may laman ng bituka ng baboy sa loob.” Oooooh! Now I know why I liked it so much! Try it now, and it won’t let you doen, I promise! It is PROVEN to be delicious! WTF! LOL! J
